The redevelopment of the old Firehouse Car Wash property at 6th Ave. and Corona St. is progressing in fine form. One of the earliest new businesses to take up residence on the site is Firehouse Animal Hospital.
Jed Rogers, DVM, grew up working at the Houston Zoo and Houston area veterinary hospitals, always planning a career working with and helping animals. For the past 10 years, Rogers has focused on private practice, and is excited to have set down roots on 6th Ave.
And the roots he’s set will need to run deep, as construction costs for the new facility ran near a cool million bucks. The 4500-square-foot clinic includes six examining rooms, state-of-the-art dental and surgery suites, and space for overnight hospitalization of recovery patients.
Pet-owners are catered to as well, with a 42-inch plasma TV, high-speed wireless internet access, plus complimentary beverages for adults, children and pets. A frequent flyers-style program rewards Fido’s folds with a variety of premiums just for bringing the pooch for a fix-up.
