Since our first day of operation in October, 2004, Firehouse has enjoyed supporting animal welfare causes in our community.  Over the past 18 months, with the help of our generous clients, Firehouse Charities has been able to donate:

  • $10,580 to Morris Animal Foundation (MAF, www.morrisanimalfoundation.org) - MAF is the world’s largest nonprofit foundation dedicated to funding research studies to protect, treat and cure animals.
  • $5,000 to Railyard Dogs (www.railyarddogs.com) – Railyard Dogs is a charitable organization that was created to build a Downtown Denver dog park, and to otherwise improve the lives of Downtown Denver dogs. The park is located near Riverfront Park at 19th and Bassett Streets and is scheduled to break ground this fall.
  • $8,000 to the Colorado Veterinary Medical Foundation (CVMF, www.cvmf.org) - CVMF was created to support education, scholarship, and service programs that improve animal health and welfare in Colorado. Two important programs of the Foundation include:
  • Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital (www.hmah.org) - Colorado’s only not-for-profit animal hospital, providing donor-subsidized veterinary care for pets of economically disadvantaged families, seniors, and people with disabilities. $6,000 of our total donation to the Foundation funded a digital dental x-ray system – the hospital had been without dental x-ray capabilities for several years.
  • Animal Emergency Management Program - provides training, community planning, and awareness in association with State programs in emergency preparedness and response services to benefit animals and people during disasters in Colorado.
  • $1,200 to Canine Companions for Independence (www.cci.org) - a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.
  • $743 to the Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Alliance (RMACA, www.rmaca.org) - a local organization that specializes in humane feral cat management. RMACA spays and neuters approximately 3,000 feral and stray cats annually.
  • $2,326 to In Memory of Magic (IMOM, www.imom.org) - an organization dedicated to bettering the lives of sick, injured and abused companion animals.  IMOM is dedicated to insuring that fewer animals have to be euthanized due to financial limitations.
  • Over $300 to Table Mountain Animal Center (www.tablemountainanimals.org) - a community resource dedicated to adopting homeless pets into loving homes, reuniting lost pets with their families, and community education.
  • Over $1600 to The Michael J. Hart Fund - a resource created by Firehouse veterinarian Dr. Randy McCarty.  The fund provides financial support to care for pets of people living with AIDS or who are disabled.
  • Over $1000 to Freedom Service Dogs (www.freedomservicedogs.org) - an organization that rescues dogs from local shelters and custom trains each dog to assist Coloradans with disabilities.
  • Over $600 to National Mill Dog Rescue (NMDR, www.milldogrescue.org) - NMDR creates awareness about puppy mills and is committed to ending the puppy mill industry.
  • Over $300 to Divine Feline (www.divinefeline.org) - Divine Feline’s purpose is to promote the health and welfare of feral cat populations in Colorado.
  • Over $1700 to the Metro Denver Shelter Alliance (MDSA, www.mdsalliance.org) -   MDSA is a support network for local shelters, both big and small, to help reach a common goal – reducing euthanasia by increasing the numbers of animals adopted and reunited at shelters.  The Alliance has created a successful model for cooperation between shelters, rescue groups, and veterinarians that is being replicated in cities throughout the nation.

Together we are making a difference to the lives of animals in Colorado!
